We are pleased to report that we’re on schedule to deliver the new broadcasting service following the switchover to the new Glow environment.
If you are new to Glow, this update will be of interest as we cover what’s on offer through the broadcasting project.
Glow TV – This is the scheduled calendar of events, centrally organised by Education Scotland and partner organisations. The service uses the current Adobe Connect service and will continue to use the new Adobe Connect service after 3rd October.
Immediately after switchover to the new Glow environment we will be running a reduced schedule to allow the service to bed in, things will then step up again toward the end of October and into November. As before this will be led by Education Scotland, Jen McDougall being the main contact. If you are interested in contributing to the schedule of events or have any ideas please contact Jen at Jennifer.McDougall@educationscotland.gov.uk.
The full schedule of events available until the 3rd October can be found here and thereafter in Glow Connect.
Glow Meets – These are the ad-hoc meetings which use Adobe Connect to allow teachers, pupils and partners to video-conference in order to facilitate online teaching and learning. Glow Users are able to schedule and manage their own Glow Meets, however they are required to have an Adobe Connect host account.
As mentioned in the previous Glow Connect post, if you want to host Glow meets after 3rd October, you will need to apply for a Host account. To do this please email Jen McDougall, Hosts will be expected to agree to abide by the Host policy, which will be shared with Host applicants.
In addition to the new Adobe Connect service, we are planning for a more extensive use of Microsoft Lync within the Glow O365 tenancy. We expect that Lync will become an integrated and essential tool to support real time collaboration. It will initially be made available to teaching staff.
