Glow is a secure environment, to gain access to Glow you need a username and password. For this to be possible you either need to be a member of staff or pupil for a Glow Customer or you need to be a Glow Partner.
Glow Customers – they sign a Memorandum of Understanding and can create accounts for any individual for whom they take responsibility.
Customers include 32 Scottish local authorities, universities with a faculty of education or equivalent, colleges who deliver the 3-18 curriculum, schools outside of LA control who also deliver the 3-18 curriculum and any body of the Scottish Government or funded by the Scottish Government who has a primary remit within the 3 – 18 curriculum. Glow is available for early years also – local authority and establishments in partnership with local authorities get access via their local authority, private nurseries are able to get logins for staff via Education Scotland’s partner account process – more details will be added here.
Glow Partners – they come on to Glow as individuals with their account created by Education Scotland or other Glow customers. They cannot create further accounts but they can participate in all aspects of Glow. They are people or organisations who are involved in the delivery of the 3 – 18 curriculum. Glow is available to every pupil and member of school staff in Scotland as well as Universities (Faculties of Education) and colleges.
Accounts are managed locally
Accounts for Glow are managed at a local level – that is each local authority, each college or university or, in some cases, each school.
