Join us on Wednesday 25th November at 1.45pm at the National Museum of Scotland to meet our resident Viking, Ivor the Ignorant and examine archaeological evidence to discover the truths behind the Viking stereotype!
Over 1300 years ago, the Vikings emerged from their homelands in modern-day Scandinavia as a force to be reckoned with. For around 300 years, they gained a reputation at home and abroad as fearsome warriors and ruthless explorers. But the Vikings were also skilled farmers, traders, sailors and craftspeople.
You’ll also find out more about: – Evidence from the grave of a 13 year old boy found in Balnakiel, in the Scottish Highlands, Trade and transport and Viking women.
