This short note is to advise that the Digital Learning and Teaching Strategy for Scotland was published today. The document can be viewed at http://www.gov.scot/Publications/2016/09/9494.
The strategy aims to create the condition to allow digital technology to enhance learning and teaching across all curriculum areas. In doing so it will enable educators, learners and parents to take full advantage of the opportunities offered by digital technology.
It sets out an approach that will support education establishments and local authorities in delivering education enhanced by digital technology. It is based around 4 key objectives: empowering leaders; improving access; enhancing curriculum and assessment delivery; and developing the skills of educators. A range of actions under each objective have been agreed with delivery partners at a national level following extensive consultation and engagement. The strategy also sets out a number of expectations of our local authorities and education establishments. Local level activity will complement national level actions enabling us to ensure that all learners can benefit from an education enhanced by digital technology.
It would be helpful if you could share the link within your organisation and your wider networks, and consider its inclusion in any upcoming newsletters. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org who would be happy to provide a form of words for you to use if that would be helpful.
